Hoooooly cow! if there's one thing that a SENSIBLE rule should stop, then it would be that sort of madness. It is difficult to write one rule that covers everything when the capacity of batteries is so diverse, but we must be able to come to some sensible number that's both safe for the smaller batteries in use, but still not ridiculous for the many that use larger batteries.

I agree, also, these people are charging at 60amps for 21.5, it's crap!

Current rules don't allow 20/30/60 amps so that's go not relation to the current rule or the purposed rule.
But with this purposed rule it's OK to charge your 3000-4000mah hour pack at 2-3c but if you run 8000mah pack in something like an Ebuggy then you are not allowed to even charge at 2c which would be 16amps
Why have a rule that is not the same for all batteries?

Still don't see a need to change but if you do I would like to see a 2c limit on charging not a 10amp limit

Currently there isnt a rule and technically there never was, it was a guideline hence it was removed nearly 2 yrs ago. Setting a maximum charge current limits a chargers output power regardless of what any sticker on a pack says, it also provides an easier setpoint for scrutineers if they wish to check, is it lower than 10 amp, yep, no need to pull lipos from bags whilst charging etc etc. Finally rules like any form of democratic voting are percentage based, you will never cover all bases but considering a large percentage of lipos currently are around the 4000-6000 mAH then setting a charge current of 10 Amp max would benefit the majority. The weekend just been, my charge lead had pulled from my 4400 shorty and hadn't charged, I biffed my 10A fast charge preset on it, it biffed around 1800mA into the beast in around 12 mins and the battery wasn't even warm, to be honest there was more heat in my lipos after a run in stock than there was in my lipo charged at 10A.

Sounds like it needs to be written as that we may charge to the smaller of either 10a, or 2 x the stated capacity of the battery. That'd cover some bases.

That sounds sensible, 10a or 2c, whichever is lower. I would need a new charger but on the weekend was running 2 classes pretty much back to back and struggled to get my batteries charged, so charging at 10a or 2c (which are the same for me, 5000mah batt) would have helped.

dont you mean 10A or 2c , which ever is the HIGHER?

otherwise your penalising the guys with smaller Mah packs that are using the same mah in a race. as ive said and ill say it again..10A is perfectly safe for all but receiver lipos.
the majority of racers use 3300-6000 mah packs and the majority of those are rated at 5c charge rates.

So on another note has anyone else realised that the proposed lipo rules remit doesn't include lipos to be hard cased???

Including yours, Nick. That's something that definitely needs correcting.

Yeah mine was purely a change to the charge rate as the lipo rules/guidelines were supposed to be in the Health and Safety guidelines, but yeah def need to add that one in, more than likely just missed off the list of rules.

Pretty sure the control tyre remits didn't pass, or the 10Amp charge remit, looks like we will be seeing a new voting format next year as well, also believe HiV lipos have been banned as well, can't quote me on these 2nd hand communication

You are right. Voting system still needs to pass a couple checks and a test before it goes ahead.
Still some other things to do as well.
